Graduation Ceremony – 2007
The Graduation Ceremony for 2007 will be held at the BMICH Main Auditorium on 7th December, 2007. Senior member representing Staffordshire University, UK will officiate at the Convocation and award the degrees.
Launch of Masters Degree Programmes

APIIT Sri Lanka will be commencing the following two Masters Degree Programmes in August 2007 to meet the increasing demand for postgraduate education in Computing and Business Management. These programmes of Staffordshire University, UK will be conducted in the evenings and weekends to suit the convenience of the busy executives.  

• MSc Computing
• MSc Technology Management

Launch of APIIT Merit Scholarships

APIIT Sri Lanka announced the launch of APIIT MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS at the Convocation held on 08th December, 2006. The objective of the scholarship scheme is to enable deserving students from different parts of the country to study at the APIIT City Campus leading to a British Degree from Staffordshire University.

Six scholarships were awarded for Computing and four for Business Administration for the January 2007 intake. Each scholarship is worth
Rs. 1 million and would cover all expenses related to the academic programme.


Graduation Ball – 2006  

Graduation Ball of 2006 was held at the Galadari Hotel on the 10th December 2006. The graduating students with their family and friends gathered to Rock-N-roll to celebrate the conclusion of their degree studies.


Graduation Ceremony – 2006

The Graduation Ceremony for 2006 was held in grand style at the BMICH Main Hall on 8th December, 2006.  The ceremony was attended by a large number of invitees including family and friends of the graduating students.  Professor Adrian Low of Staffordshire University, UK officiated at the Convocation and awarded the degrees.  Dr. Parmjit Singh, the Executive Director of APIIT Malaysia and Pro Chancellor of Staffordshire University graced the occasion and delivered the Convocation Address.

Seventy five students who completed studies in Computing, Business Information Technology and Business Administration received their awards.


Validation of New Degree Programmes

A panel headed by Professor Peter Reynolds, Director of International Office and Chair of Academic Collaborations Sub Committee of Staffordshire University visited APIIT-Sri Lanka in December 2005 for a validation audit.  As an outcome of this visit, APIIT – Sri Lanka has now been validated to offer the following new degree programmes/ specialisms:

  • B.Sc (Hons) Computing - Software Engineering
  • B.Sc (Hons) Computing - Multimedia
  • B.Sc (Hons) Computing - Web Development
  • B.Sc (Hons) E-Commerce 
  • B.Sc (Hons) Business Computing

APIIT Wins World Bank Grant

APIIT - Sri Lanka was awarded a grant amounting to Rs. 22 million under the World Bank Project for ‘Improving Relevance and Quality of Undergraduate Education (IRQUE) in Sri Lanka. The IRQUE Project is an initiative of the government of Sri Lanka to steer the tertiary education sector to produce graduates with the competencies required for Sri Lanka's economic and social development.


Career Day – 2006
Several leading organisation in the corporate world including MAS Holdings, Unilevers, CIC, Union Assurance, Ma Foi Consultants, WSO2, hSenid and Virtusa participated in a career day at APIIT in March, 2006.  A series of interactive sessions were held to educate APIIT students on the opportunities available in the industry and to highlight employers’ expectations.

Climbing Up The Corporate Ladder
17th July 2006 was an eventful day as the past graduates of APIIT gathered together for an evening of fellowship and cheer. The highlight of the day was a speech by Mr. Ajit Goonewardena, Deputy Chairman of John Keells Holding; he shared his thoughts on “Climbing up the Corporate Ladder” and answered queries related to the corporate climate posed by the young executives and managers.  Mr. Mike Wade, a Senior Lecturer and International Executive of Staffordshire University, U.K also graced the occasion.
