APIIT Sri Lanka, one of the country’s foremost higher education institutes honoured its graduates and post graduates a convocation held on 8th December 2008 at BMICH.

While delivering the welcome address at the convocation Dr.Atuhla Pitigala –Arachchi, the Chief Executive Officer of APIIT Sri Lanka stated “For the graduates, this ceremony is the culmination of years of hard work. It’s the public recognition and appreciation of your splendid academic achievements. You have earned an internationally recognized degree from a prestigious university and this is undoubtedly an exceptional achievement.”

He also noted that the students should pay tribute to their parent’s, teachers and others whose support has enabled them to become promising young individuals of today.

He called on the students, who have groomed themselves to reach the pinnacle of their chosen field to go forth and chase their dreams.

Meanwhile, addressing the gathering Professor Dr. Andy Seddon, Acting Dean, Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology, APIIT Malaysiya said “Today these graduates from APIIT Sri Lanka and Staffordshire University have become a part of a global community. Out of the 142 students 23% have passed with a 1st class honours degree which is a magnificent achievement in itself. The graduates couldn’t have made this achievement without the continuous support of their parents and academic staff.  This degree is an accepted and valued qualification that gives our graduates an entry into further studying and finding a suitable employment opportunity.

Degree and diplomas from APIIT Sri Lanka are internationally benchmarked against similar programs offered by reputed universities across the world said Dr.Seddon who also noted that these degrees and diplomas are internationally recognized and suit today’s “glocalized environment” where there is an increasing need for professionals to adopt themselves suit global and local needs.

Professor Peter Reynolds, Director of the International Office, Staffordshire University in his address noted that APIIT Sri Lanka is important link in the 3 tier partnership between APIIT Malaysia and Staffordshire University and added since its inception 9 years ago, APIIT Sri Lanka has undergone changes and developments that has enhanced its reputation as a superior higher educational institute in the country.

“Our 3 way partnership ensures that APIIT maintains its quality when recruiting students and we provide them with a top quality learning experience through our up to date curriculum. Programs offered at APIIT Sri Lanka are of high repute due to the hard work done by the students and academic staff.”

While acknowledging the tremendous accomplishment by the students he stated that this achievement should be considered as a huge victory for APIIT Sri Lanka, as its success rate was higher than any of their 14 partners in the world.

“Staffordshire University as of the top 5 universities that teaches law will begin an undergraduate program in law in September 2009 making APIIT Sri Lanka the 1st   institute to offer such a law degree. This will no doubt be a boon to aspiring lawyers seeking a top quality degree from a reputed private sector education provider. I would also like to announce that for the 1st time 7 competitive scholarships worth 3000 pounds are up for grabs exclusively for Sri Lankan students from September 2009,” elaborating on several developments that are scheduled to  take place next year.

APIIT Sri Lanka has expanded rapidly during the past nine years and has emerged as the undisputed leader amongst higher education institutes in the private sector. APIIT known to be responsible tertiary edcuaiton provider is held in high esteem in academic circles both in Sri Lanka and overseas.
