Introduction to Courses
APIIT School of Computing offers Diploma and Degree programmes in Computing/ IT. Equal emphasis on theory and practice of computing and emphasis on project work towards the latter part of the programme is a distinctive feature of the Computing Degrees.

Mission
The mission of the School of Computing is to produce computing professionals who are effective in a globalized and dynamic environment. This will be achieved through attention to the following:

    Up-to-date, internationally recognized curricula adapted to the needs of the       local environment
    Well-trained, qualified, and competent teaching faculty committed to student       success
    excellent resources and support facilities including state of the art technology
    an environment conducive to academic pursuits
    total development of the individual equipped with right values and attitudes in      addition to outstanding skills and knowledge

Aims and Objectives
The Computing Degree programmes aim to develop professional skills as well as provide good practical grounding in the chosen area of study. All the specialisations provide prospects of employment in a wide spectrum of Computing/IT and cater to the growing demand for industry specialists such as System Analysts, Project Managers, Database Administrators, Analyst Programmers and Data Communication Specialists.

The variety of choices offered provides more flexibility within the area of computing as it gives a broad view of the computer systems, hardware, software and information systems supplemented by professional issues. At the later stage of the awards the students develop a system showing expertise in a chosen area.

Courses
APIIT School of Computing offers the following Diploma and Degree Programmes:

Programme Structure
Each programme consists of lectures, group discussions, industrial visits, video presentations, assignments, exercises and case studies. Continuous assessments carried out throughout the programme, comprise written tests, assignments and presentations.

Admission Requirements
The general requirements for admission are 2 passes in GCE Advanced Level Examination and 5 Passes inclusive of Credit passes for English and Mathematics in GCE Ordinary Level Examination.

Those with G.C.E Ordinary Level qualifications may enter the Degree/Diploma programmes on completion of an eight - month Foundation Course.

Advanced entry options are available for students who have prior qualifications in Business or Computing/IT fields.

Examination and Assessment

The examinations and assessments are moderated by Staffordshire University Examiners and University Examiners external to Staffordshire University. The Degrees are awarded by Staffordshire University, United Kingdom.

International Collaboration with Universities
APIIT-Sri Lanka’s affiliation to over twenty universities in the UK and Australia enable students to obtain credit transfers to foreign universities if they wish to complete part of their studies abroad. APIIT students have the option of transferring to the second year or final year of relevant Degree Programmes.
