Introduction to Courses
APIIT School of Computing offers Diploma and Degree programmes in Computing/ IT. Equal emphasis on theory and practice of computing and emphasis on project work towards the latter part of the programme is a distinctive feature of the Computing Degrees.

APIIT School of Computing offers the following Diploma and Degree Programmes:
     Diploma in Computing and IT
     B.Sc (Hons) Computing
     B.Sc (Hons) Computing with specialisation in Software Engineering
     B.Sc (Hons) Computing with specialisation in Multimedia
     B.Sc (Hons) Computing with specialisation in Internet Technology
     B.Sc (Hons) E-Commerce

Aims and Objectives
The Computing Degree programmes aim to develop professional skills as well as provide good practical grounding in the chosen area of study. All the specialisations provide prospects of employment in a wide spectrum of Computing/IT and cater to the growing demand for industry specialists such as System Analysts, Project Managers, Database Administrators, Analyst Programmers and Data Communication Specialists.

The variety of choices offered provides more flexibility within the area of computing as it gives a broad view of the computer systems, hardware, software and information systems supplemented by professional issues. At the later stage of the awards the students develop a system showing expertise in a chosen area.

Programme Structure
The programme consists of lectures, group discussions, industrial visits, video presentations, assignments, exercises and case studies. Continuous assessments will be carried out throughout the programme and comprises written tests, assignments and presentations.

Duration
The duration of the Degree and Diploma course is as follows
Degree 3 year (fulltime) 41/2 years (part-time)
Diploma 1year (fulltime) 11/2 years (part-time)

Examination and Assessment
The examinations and assessments are moderated by Staffordshire University Examiners and University Examiners external to Staffordshire University. The Degrees are awarded by Staffordshire University, United Kingdom.

International collaboration with Universities

APIIT-Sri Lanka’s affiliation to over twenty universities in the UK and Australia enable students to obtain credit transfers to foreign universities if they wish to complete part of their studies abroad. APIIT students have the option of transferring to second year or to the final year of the Degree Programmes in Computing/IT and Business.
