Student Activity Club APIIT - Sri Lanka recognises the social needs of students and provides opportunities for social interaction. The Student Activity Club (SAC) represents the student community and acts as a forum to express their opinions and concerns. SAC enables students to pursue their non-academic interests and facilitates student bonding. Various societies are formed to promote social, cultural and sporting interests.
Excursions, sports activities and recreational activities such as cricket and rugby tournaments and concerts are regularly organized by the Student Activity Club to keep the APIIT spirit alive. Students also take part in fund raising activities and contribute to community development.
Sports SAC plays an active role in encouraging several sports activities. Cricket, Rugby, and Football are some of the outdoor sports, while indoor sports include Table Tennis, Carom and Chess. Beach Volley Ball, Pool, Bowling, Badminton, Football, six-a-side Cricket tournaments are popular and attract active participation of many students.
Arts and Drama
Special societies cater to diverse student interests including drama, social dancing, choir, etc. Latest movies are screened monthly on popular demand.
Social Events Special events to mark festivals such as Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Christmas, Ramadan and Vesak are held annually. Regular theme parties and social gatherings take place which build solidarity within the student community.
Social Responsibility Projects
SAC contributes to Social Responsibility Programmes and undertakes fund raising for community development projects. Recently, during the tsunami disaster, SAC engaged itself in voluntary work and provided relief for displaced people and aid to hospitals and schools.
