APIIT Malaysia/University College
of Technology & Innovation
 |
Asia
Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) was incorporated
in Malaysia in 1993 with the objective of providing a responsible
and industry-sensitive platform for young individuals to develop
IT and Business skills and qualifications.
Initiated by the Malaysian Government with the objective of
addressing the critical shortage of IT professionals at all
levels in Malaysia and the region, APIIT-Malaysia has grown
from being a successful private higher education institution
in Malaysia to establishing itself as a major regional player,
with activities now spread to centres in Pakistan, Sri Lanka,
and India.
Since inception, APIIT has achieved tremendous success graduating
more than 10,000 students to date. Further, APIIT-Malaysia
is committed to investing in Research & Development and,
in the last decade, APIIT has innovated a range of IT-related
international award winning products capable of commercialisation.
The historical partnership between APIIT and Staffordshire
University has necessarily been of significance in its development;
the institution’s increasing and wide ranging affiliations
to reputable universities in the UK and Australia and the
rapid expansion in terms of number and diversity of programmes
offered point to the internal strengths and the capacity for
innovation and adaptability to the changing environment.
In November 2004, the Malaysian Government rewarded APIIT-Malaysia’s
commitment to excellence in education by upgrading APIIT-Malaysia
to university
college status - the University College of Technology and
Innovation (UCTI). |
