Law School Staff

APIIT Law School has a highly qualified and competent panel of lectures. The fulltime staff is supplemented by experienced visiting lectures with industry experience. The highly committed teaching team goes above and beyond the call of duty to make certain that every student receives individual attention and support.

Sameera obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Law from the University of Colombo and is an Attorney – at- Law. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA -UK) and a Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He is practitioner of civil law, mainly focusing on property matters. He is a past president of CIMA Toastmasters Club and was a member of the Member Development Committee of CIMA Sri Lanka.
Dr. Warnasuriya holds a Ph.D in Law from Brunel University London and an LL.M in International Trade Law from the University of Wales Cardiff’s Institution. Whilst practicing in all areas of general commercial litigation, Dr. Warnasuriya has worked as an Associate at Global Solicitors, Wembley in the United Kingdom. He possesses experience in international business and commercial negotiations in countries across the Europe. His expertise is broadly in the areas of Corporate and Commercial laws, with particular emphasis on International trade finance. He is also an Attorney-at- Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka with over 15 years’ experience as a legal Counsel. He holds and has held a number of visiting academic appointments and has authored several works on Commercial and International Law. He is intensively involved in International fora and has given presentations and reports on contemporary legal issues at law symposiums held in many countries.

Indira Graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo and subsequently took oaths as an Attorney at law. She Completed the Master’s degree in Law also from the University of Colombo. She Worked as a Senior Legal Executive at Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC for a period of three years and taught at Ladies’ College, Colombo for a period of six years, whilst also functioning as the Deputy Sectional Head of the London Advanced Level Division.

Nayantha is a practicing lawyer specializing mainly in the areas of Public Law, Human Rights Law and Criminal Law. He is also an experienced lecturer having functioned as a visiting lecturer in several state universities and private institutions. Additionally, Nayantha has published a number of papers in international and Sri Lankan law journals dealing with issues pertaining to international law and constitutional law. He is also the author of a book encompassing a multi- disciplinary study of the executive presidential system in Sri Lanka. Nayantha holds an LL.M on Advanced Studies in Public International Law from Leiden University, and an LL.M from University of Colombo where he focused on Public Law. He also possesses an LL.B from University of London. Additionally, he holds a post graduate diploma in Conflict & Peace Studies from the University of Colombo. His research interests are many and wide-ranging as they include international relations, public international law, international human rights law, transitional justice and peace-building in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan political conflict and constitutional law. In his spare time, Nayantha enjoys reading post-colonial South Asian authors. At APIIT, Nayantha lectures on Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and Human Rights.

Ashwini is a qualified legal practitioner from India, specialising in Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) law. She works a part-time lecturer at APIIT. In addition to consulting on TMT law matters, she works on research projects, focussing on issues of data protection and right to information. She is also on the Board of LB Finance PLC as an Independent Director. In India, she has previously worked in litigation and corporate law offices including with the Former Additional Advocate General of Tamil Nadu. She holds Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Business Law from National University of Singapore, graduating in the top 5 of the class. She has a B.A, LL.B (Hons) from School of Excellence in Law, Chennai, India where she graduated with a “Distinction.” She has diplomas in International Business Management (offered by Loyola Institute of Business Administration, India) and Commercial Arbitration (offered by ICLP, Sri Lanka).
Netaji Obtained her LL.B with Honours from the University of London in 2009. Completed her Attorney-at-Law Examinations from the Sri Lanka Law College and took Oaths as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2011. There after Netaji has been working in several law firms specializing in Civil law, currently she is a practitioner in civil law mainly focusing on property matters.
  • Netaji has also obtained her LL.M In International Business with Employment and Human Resource with Honours for which she was graded a Distinction from the The Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2016.
  • Netaji’s interest in research areas are Business law and Commercial law.
  • Netaji is also a visiting lecturer in several institutes teaching business law/commercial law modules.
